Ki-43I Hayabusa (Oscar) - Hasegawa 1:48

The Ki-43I from Hasegawa in 1:48th scale is a very good model with nice fit and details. I used the Eduard detail set, True Details tires and also Montex masks for the painting of this impressive bird.

Overall assembly is straightforward, with no unpleasant surprises. Although some attention have to be paid regarding the fit of wingtips, which are separate parts and also the joint of the lower wing to the fuselage, no real problems rise during this build.
Some putty is needed to eliminate the seam line on ailerons (due to separate wingtips) but that's all. I decided to rivet the model, since I was going to give it a metallic finish and this effort paid off to the end result. Eduard detail set is very good concerning parts for cockpit and wheel well doors. I did not use the parts for the engine, since the biggest part of it is hidden by the huge oil cooler and of course the cowling. Finally, I used drills to open the hollow exhausts and give a more realistic look.
Main colour is Super Stainless by Gunze Super Metallic series and some panels were painted with Super Titanium. No decals on this model, everything is painted using Montex or home made masks. I used hair spray technique for the chipping of the anti-glare panel.

Enjoy, hope you like it!
